As I peered out my window this morning after being awoken pretty early I noticed the dew and thought about how our days of summer are coming to a close and these beautiful summer nights with a cool breeze are soon to be over. There’s about one week of summer left until our college days begin again and we grumble ourselves out of bed trekking down to our morning classes.
So what are you going to do for the last week of summer?
There’s only a few more days of time to make a beautiful beach trip and stop off at your nearest Italian Ice place. Don’t just waste your time running around catching up on all your missed seasons of television while you’re packing up all your clothes and life. Plan a few special days with friends before it’s all over. Go have a bbq, go out and have a day road trip. Here’s a few places in CT and Mass perfect for day trips…
Mystic is such a cute town with its draw bridge and famous ice cream place right off the bridge. There’s also the aquarium and some of the most delicious seafood restaurants. It’s a great place to walk around and the beaches are pretty close.
Northampton is a very eclectic college town which is the perfect place to go for fun. There’s an awesome store called Faces which has some of the craziest toys (not just for kids) that you can think of and downstairs they have a ton of things for an apartment or house with a bunch of odds and ends such as frog dish cleaners to bohemian bedspreads. The town is also great because there are so many different places to go to eat such as Noodles which has great Thai soup, noodle and rice dishes or Zen for pan asian cuisine or the Northampton Brewery where you can sit out on their roof and have a nice cold beer. There’s about any ethnic food you can think of there and tons of shops to go around and look through. Take a stop at Herralds ice cream after for dessert!
Clinton Crossing and Tanger Outlets
If you’re looking for some high quality shopping at a fraction of the price these places are great for you. There are stores such as Hollister, BCBG, JCrew and more!
Great Barrington, Ma
It’s the home to Ski Butternut but even though there isn’t a bit of snow to see, you can go mountain biking in the summer. There’s also a great mexican restaurant called Xicohtencatl to visit. They have all fresh food right from the garden. It’s delicious.
I know everyone knows this but I had to put it on. There’s always something to do in Boston from Quincy Market to the Prudential Center and everything in between. Always make a stop off at the north end for some great Italian desserts!
Happy day tripping!
